17th January 1916

At Queensferry. Rumours were going the rounds early today about going to sea, and as the ships “lighted up” and made other preparations it certainly seemed likely that we should go to sea. Later on in the afternoon however the order was cancelled and we are still in harbour at the time of writing. Don’t particularly want to go out, because the weather is rather boisterous.

No letters today.
